Muscle Restoration

AMR's unique Muscle Restoration System© is a 2-Phase System. The goal of Muscle Restoration is for a person to be able to exercise without pain or limitation. Exercise is a non-negotiable part of a long and healthy life. So if you can exercise without pain or limitation, then we know you can live your daily life without pain or limitation as well.

Austin Muscle Restoration offers a unique healing experience for several reasons:

  • We take a team approach to your healing. We have two muscle restoration specialists who maximize their strengths by dividing their work according to their unique genius. Instead of trying to provide all of our services to all people, Brandon focuses on Phase I services, while Stephen focuses on Phase II services. We specifically designed this process to allow each practitioner to do what they do best to provide our clients with the best possible outcomes.

  • Our practitioners are trained or certified in multiple muscle, joint and exercise mechanic specialities including Muscle Activation Techniques, Muscle Activation Techniques Rx, Muscle System Specialists, and Resistance Training Specialists. They are one of a select few practices in the world combining all of these techniques to bring you our unique Muscle Restoration System©.

  • AMR is a unique facility. Our practitioners have hand selected highly specialized equipment to help accomplish your healing at an accelerated rate. Our clinic features equipment, often custom modified, that are are not likely to see anywhere else, such as the Isophit© which allows isometric muscle building exercise while limiting joint movement.

MUSCLE RESTORATION EVALUATION & PHASE 1 SESSIONS

with Mastery Specialist Brandon O'Connor

Muscle Restoration System© Evaluation

A Message From Brandon:

"Your initial evaluation will be approximately 75 minutes. Before your evaluation, I will send you important paperwork to be completed before you arrive. During your initial evaluation, I will first review information about your current and past medical and physical history that you provide via our initial paperwork. Please bring any MRI, x-ray or diagnostic results that may be relevant (if you do not have access to these, that is ok - they are not necessary).

Next I will perform a thorough range of motion assessment. This range of motion exam takes place on a massage/chiropractic table so please wear comfortable clothes and pants, such as gym or yoga clothes (we do have a small bathroom if you need to change). After the range of motion exam, I will then present my findings to help you understand the root cause(s) of your issues, and how our Muscle Restoration System© can help create a long term solution. I will also give you the opportunity to ask me any questions you may have. The consultation is in no way a high pressure sales process. It is simply an opportunity for me to gather information about your body and help you understand what it is going to take to restore you back to your neuro-muscular "factory settings." I will also provide you with a suggested treatment plan at the end of the evaluation. This will take approximately 60 minutes.

For the final 15 or so minutes of the evaluation, Shannon will discuss our client policies, prices and packages with you, and help you schedule your fist session or sessions if you are ready to get started.

Muscle Restoration System© Sessions

Think of our services as addressing the most acute of your pain or limitation issues. The Phase 1 sessions are geared to restore as much normal motion as possible and/or to reduce as much of your pain as possible, to restore neuromuscular communication and to restore normal body movement or what we call range of motion as possible. Most of our clients begin their journey to optimal muscle system and neuromuscular health with our Phase I services.

Phase I services take place on an adjustable massage/chiropractic table. Sessions consist of gentle muscle palpation, gentle resistance movements, isometrics and muscle potentiation exercise. It is important to understand that you do NOT have to experience pain or discomfort to heal. Our goal is that you do NOT experience discomfort during or after sessions at AMR. Of course, if you have existing pain and inflammation, you may feel some mild discomfort during sessions but our process is typically not painful or uncomfortable.

My goal is NOT to provide temporary relief to an area of the body repeatedly over time. This is a "groundhog day" scenario that we do NOT engage in. Instead, my goal is to return your body to how it was meant to function, with benefits being cumulative over multiple sessions.

It is difficult to predict how many sessions a client will need over time, but most clients see meaningful increase in movement and reduction in pain in an average of 10 sessions. Typically, I recommend that clients get started by coming in for 60 minute sessions once a week for 10 weeks. We also have clients who opt to come in more frequently to achieve faster results. You may get sessions as often as one per day. After the initial 10 weeks of sessions, we will discuss next steps. Some clients do not need more than 10 sessions. Other clients may need to come in weekly for several months to a year if they have very chronic or severe issues, such as autoimmune or traumatic injury. Other clients will need to come in less frequently and for less length of time.

Of course, everyone is different. How frequently you how come in and for how will be determined during our on-going discussions, based on your progress and goals. We also keep your budget and availability in mind, so you may need to space your appointments out further apart than recommended. Spacing your appointments out will NOT impact the results you will achieve, it will only impact how soon you achieve results.

It is hard to predict how many sessions we will recommend for you prior to your evaluation. We have clients at one end of the spectrum who achieve their desired results in 1-3 sessions and come in about once a year after that. At the other end of the spectrum, we have clients who have very chronic, disabling and/or complicated conditions who need to come in weekly for at least a year. An average client typically comes in weekly for approximately 1-3 months and then begins spacing sessions out further and further. We strive to be transparent about the time and monetary investment that may be necessary to resolve your issues. In our experience, clients that are willing and able to follow our recommendations achieve the best outcomes."

MUSCLE RESTORATION PHASE II SESSIONS

with Mastery Specialist Stephen Dansevich

Muscle Restoration System© Reinforcement Sessions

Typically, Phase II sessions are a continuation of Phase I sessions and take place concurrently with Phase I sessions (for example, alternating weeks) or consecutively with Phase I sessions (for example, after Phase I session have concluded).

Think of our Phase II services as addressing the more chronic aspects of your pain or limitation issues. In Phase I, we aim to get you what we call "Table Stable" meaning Brandon no longer sees Range of Motion issues or Asymmetries while testing you on his table. However, in real life, clients report that while being "Table Stable" dramatically improves their movements and/or limits their pain, they often have lingering pain and/or limitations performing real life activities. This is where AMR becomes a unique facility. Instead of continuing to work on you on a table as most practitioners would do, we created a unique Phase II muscle restoration process to be sure your muscle system is fully restored and can tolerate real life without lingering pain and/or movement limits.

Phase II of our Muscle Restoration System (M.R.S.) takes place with Stephen Dansevich who uses a combination of Muscle System Specialist (MSS) work,Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT), Isomentric Strengthening Exercise (ISE), Eccentric Loading Exercise (ELE) and Muscle Potentiation Exercise (MPE) to further restore neuromuscular communication, reduce pain, restore normal body movement, and build muscle and joint resilience. Most of our clients transition from Phase I to Phase II work during their healing journey with us. Some clients move to Phase II after only a few Phase I sessions and other clients need more Phase I sessions before transitioning. Some clients are actually able to begin their work with us at the Phase II stage, while other clients only need Phase I sessions, and some clients even begin Phase I and Phase II work simultaneously. During your Initial Evaluation, we will be able to discuss what your journey will likely look like.

Phase II services are provided by Stephen Dansevich in our highly specialized Muscle Restoration Clinic. Stephen uses our hand-picked equipment as tools to achieve optimal muscle restoration and to permanently resolve any chronic pain  and/or movement limitations. Our clinic is private and Brandon and Stephen each only work with one client at a time.

&

PERSONAL TRAINING SERVICES

with Mastery Specialist Stephen Dansevich

Welcome to our supervised, personal training services in our private clinic. We believe everyone MUST exercise for life to maintain muscle health and therefore overall health. And by "exercise" we specifically mean resistance training. Yes, you can also add additional exercise such as yoga, pilates, walking, etc... to your regimen, but it is critical that regular resistance training be a part of your lifelong health regimen. Only resistance training will truly optimize your muscular and neuromuscular health and prevent you from needing excessive amounts of corrective muscle work as you age.

Once you have completed your Phase I and Phase II restoration work, we will absolutely recommend to all clients that they choose a resistance training program to follow for life. We will recommend to all clients that they consider scheduling supervised 1:1 training sessions indefinitely with Stephen. We realize that everyone's time and budget will not allow this as a reality. To make working out with Stephen as affordable and convenience as possible, we guarantee that you can accomplish the same workout in 30 minutes at our private clinic with Stephen as you can with any commercial trainer in 60 minutes. This is because our gym is private (you will be the only client working out so no waiting for equipment), compact (you won't be walking long distances between equipment) and Stephen is an expert with specialty equipment (He can accomplish more in less time). Ask about our special package pricing to bring sessions down to $55 for 30 sessions.

Stephen is an expert of dosing exercise for absolutely anyone. Stephen can micro-dose exercise for with clients with autoimmune/stroke/surgery/drug reactions/TBI/acute or chronic injury. He can also work with extreme athletes to build their performance and resilience.

Many of our clients come to AMR exclusively for personal training with Stephen. You do not have to participate in Muscle Restoration work to see Stephen for private workouts. Stephen trains people as a specialty Autoimmune & Injury trainer, a Stroke Specialist, a no-judgement trainer for people of all body sizes and movement limitations, and he trains athletes of all levels looking to maximize resilience and performance.

If you are a new client and starting at AMR for Personal Training, your initial evaluation will be 60 minutes. Before your evaluation, we will send you important paperwork to be completed before you arrive. During your initial evaluation, Stephen will first review information about your current and past medical and physical history that you provide via our initial paperwork.

Next Stephen will perform a thorough exercise assessment that may include muscle symmetry measurements, balance and stability measurements, a range of motion assessment, a strength assessment and a posture alignment assessment. Assessments take place in our clinic gym so please wear comfortable clothes and pants, such as gym or yoga clothes (we do have a small bathroom if you need to change). For the muscle symmetry measurements, it is helpful if you wear shorts and a short sleeve shirt, but this is not required if it makes you uncomfortable. We also ask women with long hair to bring a pony-tail holder. After the assessment, Stephen will then present his findings to help you understand how exercise can help you achieve your goal or goals. He will also give you the opportunity to ask him any questions you may have. The consultation is in no way a high pressure sales process. He will also provide you with a suggested exercise plan at the end of the evaluation.

For the final 15 or so minutes of the evaluation, Shannon will discuss our client policies, prices and packages with you, and help you schedule your fist session or sessions if you are ready to get started.
